Airway and Medical Emergency Management for the Sedation Dentist
What you need to know:
This is a six-hour Emergency category CE interactive, hands-on course where we first discuss common elements of airway management and the medical emergency in the dental office and then, with a live patient, present you and your staff with real time, actual emergencies. After each scenario we will discuss opportunities for improvement and build upon each scenario to the next. You and your staff will be presented with everything from the client with simple syncope to chest pain, seizure and even cardiac arrest. You will simulate the use of any and all medications that you normally have available and these are provided for you. We will even have you be the patient in a scenario in order to demonstrate to your staff that you may not always be present or may even some day be the patient!
This course meets the continuing eduction requirements for the Sedation Dentist in the State of Florida.

This is a 6 hour Anesthesia Related and Management of Medical Emergencies category CE course offering.
This training is designed for practitioners who offer conscious sedation.

Hands on, reality based training
You have attended programs where great information is shared but may not have had ample opportunity to practice these emergency skills in real time. Our course allows you and your staff to achieve a level of familiarity and competence with medications and techniques that are rarely used in daily practice.
Additionally, we perform advanced airway procedures including intubation, LMA, King and percutaneous/needle/surgical cricothyrotomy as appropriate; all on an advanced airway manikin.
Course objectives include:
- Define terminology related to conscious sedation and airway management and emergency care
- Demonstrate response to the untoward effects of sedation or other medical emergencies
- Demonstrate the use of various modalities utilized in the treatment of medical emergencies
- Discuss ADA and State of Florida Board of Dentistry guidelines and requirements as set forth in Florida Admin. Code #64B5-14
- Discuss current topics in conscious sedation and emergency medical treatment
